Liquid penetrant examination

After a superficial cleaning, the red penetrant is sprayed; approximately after 7-8 minutes, the red color is removed with non-pressurized water and dried carefully.
The white detector is then sprayed and it will absorb all the penetrant remained inside the discontinuities. This test is useful to catch surface flaws, porosity or cracks either on welds or machined pieces.
